YELLOW

I was pleased with myself when I discovered that sunlight, for example, could not be reproduced, but that I had to represent it by some other means... by colour.
— Paul Cezanne

When a sun rises it carries with it the hues of pink, purple and orange. The yellow embraces them into its warmth and scatters across the dark sky a deep beautiful bloom. Yellow signifies a fiery spirit: A guiding light.  It’s luminous. The sign for spring, for the warm winds to give birth to the dormant seeds of winter.

Yellow has two faces: one that nurtures and gives warmth and the other symbolizing the void of life, death and illness. The dryness of the desert, as the greenness of the summers washes up the yellows of autumn, or as the sickness that plagues the human body.

Yellow ochre and wood charcoal traced the histories of the cave paintings. Yellow has played a critical role in narrating history. Significant number of Egyptian wall murals also see the use of this colour in abundance. Gold and yellow symbolized reincarnation and prosperity.
