TACTILE NOTEBOOK & WRITTEN WORD
The Tactile Notebook & Written Word workshop held in Goolwa, Adelaide, Australia was an extraordinary experience, a unique opportunity to learn from Sandra Brownlee, an exceptionally talented Canadian textile artist. Through her engaging and emotionally moving teachings, the world of haptic and tactile art was discovered, as well as the process helped in slowing down and brought in profound inner reflections.
The workshop emphasized the significance of attention to detail in the creative process of Art & Design, and participants were encouraged slow walks, which proved to be one of the most stirring experiences, allowing us to take in the surroundings, appreciate the subtlest of sounds, and translate the rhythm of the walk into art. The participants also tried their hand at writing not so perfect, proprioceptive poetry, which was an emotional and rewarding experience. Meditative drawings brought tears to some participants' eyes, as they looked inward and moved forward by taking a step back.
The workshop provided a safe space for participants to reflect on their experiences, share their thoughts, and connect with one another. Sandra Brownlee's teachings were particularly effective in helping participants slow down and connect with themselves, and appreciate the beauty of the present moment.
TCW aims to organize workshops for creative studios, design festivals and students. Through these workshops, we intend to provide a platform for individuals and teams to learn+ connect+ create, while exploring the nuances of the present moment.
